Digital loyalty cards with a concrete reason to use them again.
If customers cannot see what they gain by returning, replacing paper with a virtual card is not enough. Vuelvy designs the rule, QR or link enrolment and benefit validation in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. No proprietary brand app, with the second and third purchase as the objective rather than a guaranteed result.

Notification and update availability depends on each Wallet platform’s capabilities and policies.

Why your current card does not bring them back
The causes repeat: the rule is not understood before paying, the reward sits outside the customer's real return horizon, or staff have no quick way to validate redemption. Stamps for frequency, points for accumulation, tiers for recognition: the mechanic follows observable behaviour and available data, not visual preference.
Stamps, points or tiers: choose a reason to come back
Start with one behaviour: another visit, repeat spending or a more valuable ongoing relationship. These are decision-making examples, not customer results or universal recommendations. Choose one main mechanic that staff can explain and validate.
- Stamps suit purchases or visits of similar value, such as at a café. Define which purchase earns a stamp; scanning a QR code does not prove a paid visit.
- Points can distinguish between different purchase amounts. Define eligible spend, the points conversion and how refunds are handled; you need reliable order data or staff validation.
- Tiers recognise an ongoing relationship through differentiated benefits. Define qualification, retention and review rules; a VIP label alone has little value without a meaningful benefit.
An achievable reward that protects your margin
There is no stamp target or points conversion that works for every business. Estimate how many purchases a customer needs to reach the reward and whether that timescale fits their actual buying frequency. Then assess the cost to your business, not just the reward's retail price.
- Calculate reward, operating and integration costs before setting the threshold.
- Explain qualifying purchases, exclusions, expiry, refunds and redemption conditions before enrolment.
- Check that staff can recognise progress, validate the reward and resolve an issue without duplicate redemption.
- If average order value rises, also review discounts, product cost and margin per order: more revenue does not guarantee more profit.
How to check whether your card leads to a second purchase
Before launch, set an observation window that fits the buying cycle. Compare groups of new customers with equal time to return, not a newly acquired group with customers observed for months. Saves indicate adoption, not retention or incremental sales.
- Second purchase: customers in the group who complete another valid purchase within the window ÷ customers with a valid first purchase and a fully observed window × 100.
- Time to return: days between the first and second purchase among repeat buyers; also show how many customers have not returned.
- Average order value: value of valid orders after refunds ÷ number of those orders, using the same rules in both periods.
- Outcome: compare margin after rewards and programme costs, issues and redemptions. Without a comparable or control group, describe an observed trend rather than an effect caused solely by the card.
Design enrolment where the customer decides
The best card is useless when nobody understands why to save it. We prepare the message, incentive, QR and explanation for the channel where enrolment happens.
- Counter or reception
- Post-purchase
- Consented email or SMS
- Landing page and social
Keep the reason to return alive
Balance, tier, benefit and expiry should update from real information. The card is an interface for the program, not an isolated promotion.
From a saved card to a verified purchase
We agree what counts as a visit or order, who validates it and how long to observe the return. We compare equivalent customers and periods: saving a pass is a step, not a sale. K-Kare's case documents repeat purchase and AOV reported by the business, including comparison limits.
Already using paper stamp cards?
Switching takes more than a new design: you need to recognise existing stamps, help customers move and compare the running costs.
How Vuelvy solves it
We analyse frequency, margin and staff capacity to choose stamps, points or recognition. We prepare the pass, enrolment and redemption, then connect the data your operation needs. There is no identical formula for every business: a café and an online store need different rules. Request an assessment to define scope, implementation and cost, without mistaking a free template for a complete programme.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as a loyalty app?
No. It reduces installation friction and covers narrower cases; a proprietary app can provide broader functionality.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
The solution covers Apple Wallet and Google Wallet with designs and capabilities adapted to each platform.
Which types of digital loyalty card can be created?
You can create points, stamp, tier, membership or recurring-benefit cards. The mechanic should fit purchase frequency, margin and the business's real ability to validate each use.
How does a customer add the card to their Wallet?
The customer opens a link or scans a QR code and adds the compatible pass to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Enrolment can also appear after purchase, in email, in store or inside a form.
Can the card be updated after it is saved?
Yes. Points, stamps, tier, benefit, date or call to action can be updated when a data source and integration support the provider's rules.
How is digital loyalty card usage measured?
Measurement combines enrolments, active passes, updates, clicks, scans, redemptions and identified purchases or visits. The primary metric is chosen before launch to connect loyalty with return.
Should I choose a stamp card, points or a tiered programme?
It depends on the behaviour you want to encourage. Stamps simplify visits of similar value; points can recognise different spending amounts; tiers offer distinct benefits for an ongoing relationship. Vuelvy assesses frequency, margin and available data before designing the rule and its validation.
How many purchases should customers make to earn a reward?
There is no universal threshold. Estimate the time to a reward using actual purchase frequency, calculate the cost of the benefit and check that customers understand what remains to earn it. Vuelvy helps define an initial mechanic and a data-led review, without guaranteeing increased sales.
